Denise Ruiz
I started Silversmithing in 1993, after taking a course at Chastain Arts Center
I decided I could teach myself. I bought "The Complete Metalsmith" by Tim McCreight
and a torch from home depot!!! I made my bench out of a door and stacked milk
crates-I wish I had a photo!! On my journey I worked for a welder over in
the Candler Warehouse District and a Master Blacksmith-Tom Sheets . I have
apprenticed with Regina Impsweiler and Khai Lee- an award winning Master Bench Jeweler.
After attending The
Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad California where she
won awards for her metal work as seen here from MJSA
Press Room release.
In the student category, Denise Ruiz of the Gemological Institute
of America (GIA) won first place with her Interchangeable Ring. Comprised of 22k
and 18k yellow, white, and rose metals, each interchangeable post was made with
bezel set tanzanite and rubies.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to
